ANIMATION BLOCK 2020.

On August 21-23, 2020, Animation Block Party presented its 17th annual festival at the Brooklyn Academy of Music with a unique program of streaming animated shorts and virtual after-parties.

Animation Block Party 2020 programs were available for free with a suggested donation to either Black Lives Matter of Greater NY or City Harvest for COVID-19 support.

A new edition of excellent family-friendly animated shorts from Animation Block Party. This delightful telecast highlights studio pilots, independent content, energetic student works and a handful of international cinematic wonders.

Experimental, Graphic Design and Music Videos

Experience the best design centric animated shorts, music videos and outstanding experimental works. A hallucinatory program of abstract imagery, dimensional space, false impressions and reflective truths.

Independent Animators

An eclectic program of animated films by indie artists, freewheeling alternative worlds, historical interpretations, karmic retribution and urban visual cues.


SATURDAY Night After Party

The Saturday evening virtual party starts at 6pm EST / 3pm PT and features a LIVE 16mm tele-steream from Tommy Stathes’ Cartoons On Film.

Visually stimulating, sometimes surreal, New York themed shorts from some of the most iconic NY studios of the early 20th century.
