Animation Block Party Opening Night at Rooftop Films begins on Thursday, July 27th at Courtyard 5-6 of Industry City 51 35th St., Brooklyn, NY 11232. Doors at 8pm. Live Music at 8:30pm. Films begin at 9pm. In the event of rain, show will be indoors at same location. After party sponsored by Corona, Tanqueray, Freixenet and Fever-Tree Tonic starts at 11pm.

ABP Friday at BAMcinématek features four animation programs. The 2pm slot offers a screening of Student Films and Independent Animators. Late Night Work Club - Strangers (NYC Premiere)

“Strangers” is the second anthology from the Late Night Work Club collective, including new films from Loup Blaster, Jeanette Bonds, Sean Buckelew, Alex Grigg, Kirsten Lepore, Nicolas Ménard & Caleb Wood with interstitial animation by Charles Huettner and original music by Skillbard, David Kamp, SCNTFC & more. Late Night Work Club is a loose, rotating collective of indie animators. Their first collection of films “Ghost Stories” was presented at a special ABP screening at BAMcinématek in December of 2013.

Animation Block Party presents select new highlights and classic clips from Netflix’s hit program, BoJack. Come meet the most beloved sitcom horse of the 90’s hit TV show "Horsin' Around.” Twenty years later, he’s washed up, living in Hollywood, complaining about everything, and wearing colorful sweaters. Q&A after the screening with production designer and producer, Lisa Hanawalt and supervising director, Mike Hollingsworth.

Birdboy: The Forgotten Children (NYC Premiere)

Directed by Alberto Vázquez and Pedro Rivero. An ecological event has devastated an island. Birdboy hides himself, his inner turmoil gnawing at him while he avoids the island's scavenging inhabitants and the local police, who suspect he is dealing drugs. With her religious foster parents driving her to despair, Dinky has decided that escape is her only option. Her animal friends join her in a journey to find Birdboy and make their getaway. This feature length film stems from an amazing Birdboy short animation that screened at Animation Block Party 2011. Based on the graphic novel "Psiconautas" by Alberto Vázquez.

Bee movie

Ten year anniversary! Barry B. Benson, a bee just graduated from college, is disillusioned at his lone career choice: making honey. On a special trip outside the hive, Barry's life is saved by Vanessa, a florist in New York City. As their relationship blossoms, he discovers humans actually eat honey, and subsequently decides to sue them. Starring and co-written by Jerry Seinfeld!

Screening will include a special introduction from Jerry Beck, who wrote the book The Art of Bee Movie.
